Data we collect ourselves

This website is a static site. We do not run contact forms, user accounts, newsletters or comment functions, and we do not keep server access logs that could be linked back to you.

The only data we process ourselves is the usage data collected by our own Matomo analytics installation described below, plus your consent choice, which never leaves your browser.

Web analytics (Matomo)

We use Matomo, an open-source web analytics software, to understand how this site is used — for example which pages are opened and how visitors find us. Matomo runs on our own server and is configured to work without cookies: no information is stored on or read from your device for analytics purposes. Analytics data is not passed on to third parties and is not used for advertising or for building cross-site profiles.

Data processed: shortened (anonymised) IP address, pages viewed, date and time of the visit, time spent on a page, referring URL, clicked links and downloads, browser and operating system, device type and screen resolution, and an approximate location (country/region level) derived from the shortened IP address
Cookies: none. Matomo runs in cookieless mode, so no analytics cookies are set and no identifiers are stored in your browser
Purpose: statistical evaluation of reach, and operation and improvement of this website
Legal basis: our legitimate interest in a needs-based design of our website (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR)
Recipients: none — the installation is self-hosted and the data is not shared outside our company
Retention: raw visit data is deleted after 13 months; beyond that we only keep aggregated reports that cannot be linked to an individual
Objection: you can object to this processing at any time (Art. 21 GDPR). Our Matomo installation honours the “Do Not Track” / “Global Privacy Control” setting of your browser, so enabling it stops the tracking. You can also contact us using the details above.

We store your choice about optional content (see below) in your browser’s local storage under the key bbp-consent. This storage is strictly necessary to remember your decision and does not itself require consent. The value stays on your device and is not transmitted to us.

YouTube video embeds

Game trailers on this site are hosted by YouTube, a service provided by Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland (“Google”).

Trailers are not loaded until you actively opt in, either via the cookie banner or the “Load video” / “Always allow YouTube” button shown in place of a trailer. Once loaded, YouTube may set cookies and process personal data (such as your IP address) on its own servers, for its own purposes, as described in Google’s Privacy Policy.

Recipient: Google Ireland Limited / YouTube, LLC
Transfer to third countries: loading a video can transfer data to Google LLC in the USA. Google relies on the EU Commission’s adequacy decision for the EU–U.S. Data Privacy Framework and on Standard Contractual Clauses.
Withdrawing consent: use the “Cookie Settings” link in the footer; future page loads will no longer load YouTube content until you opt in again

Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the following rights regarding your personal data:

Right of access (Art. 15 GDPR) — to obtain confirmation as to whether we process personal data about you and, if so, to receive a copy of that data together with information about the processing.
Right to rectification (Art. 16 GDPR) — to have inaccurate data corrected and incomplete data completed.
Right to erasure (Art. 17 GDPR) — to have your data deleted, provided none of the statutory exceptions applies.
Right to restriction of processing (Art. 18 GDPR) — to have processing limited instead of erased in the cases listed in that article.
Right to data portability (Art. 20 GDPR) — to receive data you provided in a structured, commonly used, machine-readable format, and to have it transmitted to another controller where technically feasible.
Right to object (Art. 21 GDPR) — to object at any time, on grounds relating to your particular situation, to processing based on our legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR), including the analytics described above.
Right to withdraw consent (Art. 7(3) GDPR) — where processing is based on your consent, you can withdraw it at any time with effect for the future. The lawfulness of processing carried out before the withdrawal is not affected.
Right to lodge a complaint (Art. 77 GDPR) — you may complain to a supervisory authority, in particular in the EU member state of your residence, place of work or of the alleged infringement. The authority responsible for us is the Berlin Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information (Berliner Beauftragte für Datenschutz und Informationsfreiheit, Alt-Moabit 59–61, 10555 Berlin, Germany).

To exercise any of these rights, please contact us using the details below. We respond to requests within one month; where a request is complex, that period may be extended by up to two further months, in which case we will inform you.
