About the Company
Blue Backpack is an independent game developer and publisher based in Berlin, Germany.
Our studio was founded in 2016 as the games division of btf (bildundtonfabrik). In 2025, it was spun off into Blue Backpack.
Half of us are located in Berlin, with our main base at the Saftladen Indie Games Collective, while the rest work remotely across multiple countries.
The name Blue Backpack honors a lifelong friend whose hero item was a blue backpack. To us, it has become a symbol of curiosity, adventure, and wonder — a reminder to approach the world with openness, imagination, and kindness.
